AMARYLLIDACEAE
This bulbous plant is native to the Eastern Cape of South Africa. It's a truly aesthetically pleasing plant with its smooth, waxy, and beautifully pink-edged leaves. When young, these leaves are arranged in a single plane, opposite each other, but as they mature, they lie flat against the surface around the planting site, a sight to behold. The inflorescence emerges from the bulb in autumn and grows up to 40 cm tall. This inflorescence bears 30 to 50 pink to red flowers. A true spectacle!
Full sun, water during the growing season when the substrate is almost dry. A natural winter grower, this means watering from September through the winter until around May. Be careful not to overwater the plant during those cold and dark days to avoid rotting the bulb.
