DIOSCOREACEAE

 This iconic caudex plant is native to South Africa.
 Also known as elephant's foot because of the enormous caudex this plant forms, this is a crowd-pleaser that's gradually finding its way into homes, and rightly so!
 The magnificent caudex sends out one or more long, vining stems that twine around nearby structures. The leaves are small and heart-shaped, contrasting beautifully with the irregular caudex.
 Recommended for everyone, even beginners.

 Full sun, water when the substrate threatens to dry out. This can be year-round, from spring to autumn (summer grower) or even from autumn to spring (winter grower). This depends on whether the plant is actively growing and has a healthy vine with leaves. This is a bit of an oddity: it decides for itself when to sprout and grow. Be careful watering this plant during the winter months if it's still actively growing. The cold and dark winter is dangerous for the plant if it's watered then, so let it dry out thoroughly between waterings.
