MORACEAE

This charming plant can be found growing wild in northeastern tropical Africa, even on the Arabian Peninsula. It's a relatively small member of the fig family. They are incredibly variable plants in terms of leaf shape and color, branching habit, trunk shape and color, and more. What they all have in common is the characteristic, beautiful, woody stem bearing green to dark purple leaves and the occasional flower (which is essentially an open fig!). A very easy plant for beginners.

Full sun and regular watering during the growing season (never allow the soil to dry out completely). Allow it to become dormant in winter by stopping watering and allowing it to dry out. It prefers warmth.
