ASPHODELACEAE
This plant, formerly known as Aloe plicatilis, originates from the Cape region of South Africa.
A very striking species that bears a striking resemblance to the closely related Aloe species. What makes this one even more special is that the leaves are arranged distally, like a fan in a single plane. Another cool feature is that, as they age, they become woody and branch out into several of these fans. Just like Aloe species, they produce beautiful flower spikes with bright red flowers. Besides the tree Aloes, they are possibly among the most ornamental species. Not difficult!
Full sun, water regularly during the growing season (when the substrate starts to dry out). Keep almost dry in winter. A monthly watering is fine.
