AIZOACEAE
This plant is native from southern Namibia to the Eastern Cape of South Africa. Unique to it is that it is a woody member of the ice plant family, which typically remains small, succulent, and herbaceous.
The beautiful, coarse, woody structure is actually thickened roots that grow underground in the wild. In cultivation, they are systematically planted higher so that their aesthetic shape and texture are clearly visible, making them a favorite among fans of plants like caudex. From these roots, numerous delicate stems with succulent leaves emerge on either side. During the growing season, you often see flowers appear, quickly revealing the plant's family. They are very willing to grow and flower, highly recommended!
Full sun, plenty of water during the growing season (never allow the substrate to dry out completely). Keep them drier once the days get shorter and colder (think early to mid-October). Secretly enjoys a sip during the winter months (max. once a month, on a sunny, less cold day, for example).
