APOCYNACEAE
This Pachypodium originates from Southeast Africa, where it grows in deserts or dry scrub. It is also a relatively small species, growing only up to 2 meters tall. In cultivation, this will naturally be somewhat smaller. The height-to-thickness ratio is remarkable, making it a favorite among enthusiasts of thick, caudex-like trunks. The trunk has a whitish-gray sheen with attractive thorns. The leaves are glossy and leathery, forming a small crown at the top of the plant. Once they are a bit larger, you can induce them to flower, forming a beautiful cluster of white flowers, hence the Afrikaans name "Koedoelelie."
Full sun; water during the growing season when the substrate becomes dry. Reduce watering in the fall and stop completely in the winter to prevent root rot.
