APOCYNACEAE

Native to South Africa, this typical caudex plant is a real favorite among hobbyists. It produces a beautiful, thick caudex, lovely spiny branches, and readily produces flowers. This plant automatically has strong bonsai qualities. With a little proper care, you can achieve it too.

Full sun, water during the growing season (spring to fall) when the substrate threatens to dry out. Let it go dormant when the days shorten and it gets colder (around mid-October). Keep dry throughout the winter to prevent root rot.
